Bat, Al-Khutm and Al-Ayn are three Archaeological Sites, which form a group of Necropolises from 3rd Millennium BC. They are located near a Palm Grove, in the Al Dhahira region of the Sultanate of Oman and were declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1988.
The core site is a part of the modern village of Bat, in the Wadi Sharsah. It is approximately 24 kilometers east of the City of Ibri, in the Al-Dhahira Governorate of north-western Oman.
Bat
The Bat site is located inside the palm grove. There are about 100 graves and circular buildings each having 20 meters diameter in the necropolis. About seven monumental stone towers have been discovered at Bat and one in Al-Khutm.
Al-Khutm
Al-Khutm is located about 2 kilometers west of Bat. The ruins suggest that to be derived from a stone fort having a tower made of rock with a diameter of 20 meters.
Al-Ayn
Al-Ayn which is in best condition compared to Bat and Al-Khutm is a small necropolis, located 22 kilometers southeast of Bat.
