Diwali Sweets and Savouries - Dates and Fig Barfi
We Indians, make different sweets and savouries during festivals especially for the Diwali. Today we are going to make Yummy Dates and Fig Barfi. The recipe and preparation is tried and tested by our patrons Gayathri Nagesh and Sumathi Hariharan, which they have shared with you all.We have used good quality Dates in the preparation. Hence it can be slightly more costlier than usual. All the ingredients are very easy to buy from the local market. It takes an hour to prepare this yummy and healthy Barfi.Tips:If you buy Dates without seeds, it is more easy. Otherwise, remove the seeds before starting the preparation.
Equipment
- 1 Frying Pan
- 1 Flat Greasing Tray
- 1 Roller large/medium
- 1 Wooden Roller - Small
- 1 Spatula
- 1 Brush for greasing the Tray
Ingredients
- 1 Kg Chopped Soft Dates
- 1 Kg Chopped Soft Fig
- 100 gm Chopped Soft Cashew Nut
- 100 gm Chopped Walnut
- 100 gm Chopped Almond
- 100 gm Chopped Badam
- 100 gm Chopped Pista
- 2 tsp Ghee
Instructions
- Keep a frying pan in medium flame and put the chopped Fig into it
- Stirr continuously till the Fig becomes sticky
- Add Dates into it and mix till both blend together
- Add all dry fruits, stirr continuously and incorporate into the Dates and Fig mixture
- Grease the Flat Tray with the Ghee using the Brush
- Put the Dates-Fig mixture on to the tray
- Flatten the mixture with the roller
- Use the smaller wooden roller to spread it more evenly
- Allow the mixture to cool for few minutes
- Cut the Barfi into small rectangular pieces
- Use a knife to remove individual pieces and store the Barfi in a container once completely cooled
- Yummy Dates and Fig Barfi is ready. Enjoy with your friends and family
