The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is on the Hawaii Island. Mauna Loa (4,170 meter high) and Kilauea (1,250 meter high) are two of the world’s most active volcanoes situated at the heart of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is listed in the World Heritage List, which is about 88,000 hectares in area. A large area is added to this later making it one of the largest properties, large enough to protect the geological values.
Specialties
There are large numbers of endangered plant and animal species in the park. The park also provides access to Volcanic Resources and Lava. The Park is an example of island building through Volcanic processes. Shield-building Volcanism process keeps the park’s landscape in one of relatively constant and dynamic change.
The Volcano Mauna Loa is the greatest mass on earth, measured from the ocean floor. Kilauea and Mauna Loa are two of the world’s active and best understood Volcanoes.
