Headache is not generally a disease and all of us at one point or the other get headache. It is mainly a symptom that indicates of something wrong in some parts of our body. But do you know what causes headache?
Human Brain
Human brain is a very important part of the body and covered and protected by the skull. Certain arteries, veins and tissues in the skull are very sensitive to pain. We experience headache when such arteries, veins or tissues get hurt in some way. These particular areas very sensitive to pain are affected by many factors. Headache can be caused by various reasons.
Common reasons for Headache
Whenever we get hurt in any part of our body, the local pain gets transmitted to these places as well and we get headache. Our muscles contract due to some reasons and if there is a contraction of muscles near the head, above the neck then we get headache. Headache can be caused by hunger or improper digestion, anxiety, mental tension, fever, improper vision, anger and dislocation of bones of neck. These are circumstances when our arteries, veins, tissues and musles undergo some changes, that causes headache.
Migraine is a type of headache, characterized by Paroxysmal headache. It occurs in bouts which affects normally only one side of the head. It can be preceded frequently by visual disturbances, nausea and vomiting. Headache can be caused by a brain tumor also.
When headache persists and become uncontrollable consulting with a neurologist is suggested. A neurologist can distinguish between a headache caused by serious nerve or brain disease or that is caused by a less serious condition.
