Impossible becomes Possible
Emirati space scientists and engineers at Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre confirmed the receipt of the first transmission from the Hope Probe at 08:08pm yesterday. The unmanned Hope Probe was on its journey to Mars for seven months and completed a journey of 493.5 million kilometers when it entered the Martian Orbit last night. It will circle the Red Planet and gather detailed data on Mars atmosphere.
It is indeed a proud moment for everybody and UAE has joined the Elite Group of four other countries reaching the Mars orbit. The Hope mission will boost UAE Industry and Science capacity while also delivering much needed data on the Martian Atmosphere. The Hope Orbiter was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan with a Japanese rocket, the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries H-IIA launch vehicle on 19 July 2020 at 21:58:14 UTC.
Hope has arrived
The President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said “This historic achievement would not have been possible without the persistence and determination to implement the idea that emerged at the end of 2013 by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid who followed it up closely until success”.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai said “We dedicate our Mars achievement to the people of the UAE and the rest of the Arab World. We mark our country’s 50th anniversary by our Mars stop and invite Arab youth to join the UAE’s science movement that marched at high speed”.
Several other dignitaries and leaders from other countries have congratulated the UAE on its biggest achievement in space.
