Indian Art and Craft – Pembarthi Metal Craft

Pembarthi Metal Craft is intricate sheet metal brass engravings and artefacts. Pembarthi is a village in Warangal District of Telangana State in India and about 80 kilometers from Hyderabad. The workmanship of the “Vishwakarmas” – the Metal Workers is outstanding and the history of Pembarthi tells about the same.

The Sheet Metal Craft Work is popular for the Statues (Vigraha) and Chariots (Vahana) of several Hindu Temples. Most of the temples in Telengana region were built under the patronage of the Kakatiya rulers during their glorious period.

The temples built by Kakatiyas bear the signature style of Pembarthi craftsmen. The Pembarthi Brassware have become an essential artefact in many exhibitions and show Telangana’s artistic heritage.
