Kapalbhati is a Yogic Breathing Technique or Pranayama which is a multifaceted exercise for your body to keep fit. In fact the Yoga practice is tightly coupled with the breathing pattern you follow while doing Yoga postures.
Kapal in Sanskrit means “Skull” and Bhati means “To Shine”. If followed correctly and practiced regularly, Kapalbhati Pranayama can help reduce the Workplace Tensions, Relationship Stress, Anxiety and many Stress related issues. Kapalbhati strengthens your Chest, cleanses your Abdominal Organs, energizes the Circulatory and Nervous Systems.
What it does for you
The Kapalbhati Pranayama requires a lot of energy and thus generates body heat and in turn dissolve Toxins and Waste matter. It enhances the functioning of the Kidneys and Liver. Kapalbhati has a soothing effect on your Eyes which relaxes the muscles and thus can help do away with dark circles and premature signs of aging. It improves the Blood Circulation and Digestion and also very good for Weight Loss. Since Kapalbhati Pranayama stimulates the internal organs, especially the abdominal ones, helps people with Diabetes. It is a very good exercise for those who have Mood Swings.
Since the Kapalbhati Pranayama (Kriya) requires an initiation by an experienced Yoga Practitioner, I am not giving the steps on doing the same here. Never attempt to do it just by watching a video or reading an article. You may not get the real benefits if you don’t do it correctly and as a matter of warning, there could be bad effects as well when you do it incorrectly.
