Al Mahatta Airport Museum in Sharjah is located in the Al Mahatta area, opposite Al Qasimya District in Sharjah. It is open from 8am to 8pm on all days except friday. Fridays it is open from 4pm to 8pm. Visit to the Museum is free for children below two years. For children between 2 and 12 years it is 5 Dirhams and adults it is 10 Dirhams per person.
There are parking slots for the visitors and parking is free within the complex. Otherwise, you can utilize the paid parking slots available in front of the Museum.
It is a must visit place and an important landmark owing to its unique collectibles that narrate the history of aviation from man’s first attempt to fly.
Al Mahatta Airport was the first airport in the region built in 1932. It is turned into a museum highlighting the history of flight in the UAE and the region. It was used in 1930’s as a staging post for commercial flights from Britain to India.
The original, fully restored propeller planes are displayed alongside the refueling tanker in the Aircraft Hangar.
You can even see cross-sections of Aircrafts with their cockpit and seating area.
