Wake Up On-Time in the Morning

Wake Up On-Time in the Morning

How many of you have difficulty in getting up on-time in the morning? I am sure majority of people would love to sleep five minutes more. But that five minutes can turn out to be very long time for some. How can we train ourselves to wake up on-time in the morning?

Causes

The main cause for this is lifestyle factors. Medications as well as Medical Conditions can also make it hard to wake up. People having one or more the following can find it difficult to get up in the morning.

  • Parasomnias – like sleepwalking, sleep talking, night terrors
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Sleep Deficiency or Sleep Deprivation
  • Stress and Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders – difficulties in developing a regular sleep routine
  • Medications including Beta-Blockers, Muscle Relaxants, Antidepressants etc.
  • Chronic Pain – due to which one is unable to get a good sleep in the night

Remedies

By following some home remedies and/or medical treatment and changes in lifestyle can help you come out of the problems.

  1. Develop and Follow a sleep schedule – Find out how much sleep you need and accordingly fix a time to go to bed. Avoid taking your mobile or portable devices to your bedroom and keeping them next to you
  2. Give enough time for digestion – After your dinner, do not go immediately to bed. Give sufficient time (at least two hours) for the food to digest. A full stomach can be difficult for many to get proper sleep
  3. Avoid drinking caffeine within six hours before going to bed
  4. Avoid drinking alcohol before bed
  5. Move your Alarm Source away from bed so that you will not get a chance to put it to snooze
  6. Eat healthy food and do regular exercise
  7. Enjoy the daylight – Instead of sitting inside the house or office all the time, try to go out in the daylight. It helps in regulating your circadian rhythm (natural sleep-wake rhythm) which will improve sleep
  8. If you are unable to get it resolved by following simple changes in lifestyle, consult a doctor and take his advice
